Chris
began his insurance career in 1988 after graduating from University
of Toronto where he was a key member of the Varsity Blues hockey
team. He started full-time with an insurer’s claims department
while continuing to serve as a commissioned officer for the Canadian
Armed Forces over the next 10 years. In 1992, after a two-year
period with an independent adjusting firm Chris accepted a full-time
position with a large bonding Insurer where he developed valuable
expertise, investigating Surety, Fidelity and miscellaneous bond
claims. During the next 8 years, he was immersed in litigation
files which fine-tuned his knowledge of construction, contract
law and insolvency issues.
Chris returned to his Independent Adjusting roots in 2001.
He extended his experience to all types of commercial property
and liability exposures, including truck and cargo claims and
developed a specific expertise for elevator claims. He was regularly
utilized by Insurers for their more suspicious or sensitive
claims.
Chris joined Picano and Mustill adjusters in November, 2004.
He is the control adjuster for several elevator maintenance
companies, including the largest in North America and his expertise
in that area was recognized recently by an article in Elevator
